Without something that Buddhists call "maitri" (a simple acceptance of our essential self) the renunciation of old habits becomes abusive.
It is when we accept ourselves that we can more easily let go of harmful patterns (aka "defects of character"). By learning to relate to ourselves without moralizing, harshness and self-deception we can truly "Let Go and Let God."
I especially am able to meditate on the boat.
