A Day Without Fear Running My Show

How  many of the choices I've made in my life have been reactions to fear?  When my world changes: a loved one falls ill, a friend no longer has as much time to spend with me (or they are displeased by something I have said)... or the grocery store does not have the item I need for dinner--and I panic.  My thoughts tell me this is a disaster. My imagination goes wild. And then I act, as quickly as possible to get away from the feelings.  Whatever I do is usually fruitless and rash.  I just want to "put a bandage on the situation, because the one thing I most fear is being afraid."

"Fear can become a power greater than myself." To fix it or make it go away can be impossible.  I've learned, with a Higher Power greater than my fears, fear does not need to run my life or hasten my choices.  If I hold my Higher Power's hand, I can face my fears with faith, and keep moving, one step at a time.

Our is a program that guides us to find spiritual solutions to whatever we are powerless to change.  Relief from fear has never come from trying to do battle with it. Even fear, when accepted, can be put behind me, when I turn to my Higher Power.

"That the birds of worry and care fly above your head, this you cannot change. But that they build nests in your hair, this you can prevent."  Chinese proverb

And this last, for Halloween!  If a man harbors any sort of fear, it makes him landlord to a ghost.  Lloyd Douglas

  1. I am glad to be relatively free of fear today. I have always been willing to stand up for what I believe, but I do it without the martyr syndrome now.
