Yes, But....

Today, the author of today's CTC notices that  when the words "Yes, but" come to mind, they are usually  an indication of  "refusing to accept something over which [they are] powerless."

Come to think of it, the words came to mind a lot last night when I was walking with friends whose heart's desire is for me to land right side up in my new community.

My world as a whole is rich. In my current community I have "beauty, a loving fellowship, and challenges that strengthen and prepare me for a better life."    Is helpful for me to deny these gifts by wishing I did not have to move?   Will wishing make it so?   No!

May I accept the gifts of my old community, let them gently go as we move into accepting the gifts in the new community.  May I enjoy  thoroughly that which is passing, and humbly accept the reality my Higher Power has in store without giving in to, "yes, buts."

"I don't have to like reality, only to accept it for what it is. This day is too precious to waste by resenting things I can't change. When I accept everything as it is, I tend to be reasonably serene. When I spend my time wishing things were different, I know that serenity has lost its priority."

In our move,  I am responsible for changing what I can. But I need to let go of my life here if I want peace of mind.    "Just for today I will love myself enough to give up a struggle over something that is out of my hands."

I love the quote in today's reading:

"By yielding, you may obtain victory." Ovid

  1. I like that you are facing the changes coming. It will be hard to leave your old community but there will be much that will be exciting in your new home.
