Gratitude, My Favorite Prayer

This poem came my way last night. It was too apropos, not to share.
I've also heard it said that "Gratitude is the highest form of prayer."
Gratitude is truly a cornerstone of my program. It even helps me to appreciate the good aspects of my borderline personality disordered family member. But even so, I sometimes must still hang up on her when she is turning her guns my way. I am grateful that I have learned to Let Go and Let God and take a stand that puts me first.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance,
chaos to order,
confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast,
a house into a home,
a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past,
brings peace for today,
and creates a vision for tomorrow.

  1. Gratitude is not only an attitude it is an action. Some think that it is not genuine to practice gratitude without feeling it. But I personally appreciate that I can DO gratitude even when I don't feel it.
